The FAST sodium bicarbonate powder has a particle size of 40 microns and it suitable for supragingival cleaning. It is excellent at rapid removal of biofilm and stubborn stains. It has a Moh’s hardness of 2.5 so is not suitable for cleaning exposed dentine or periodontal pockets. Angle the handpiece away from the gingival tissue.
